Has anyone ever heard of this university? I got a job as an English Instructor. Yay right?
Well there's something about this job that seems a bit off. In their initial job posting, they required 3 letters of recommendation and a one year teaching experience. My letters are still pending and although I do have teaching experience, it doesn't add up to one year. My interviewer never asked for these...which makes me wonder...hmm.
When I did my interview via skype, I was hired ASAP and was told that I had to be there by September 27th (when the new school year starts). They pay is ok and there's no accommodation. When I asked about signing the contract, they said that its done in person at their office. I'M NOT IN ISTANBUL, im IN TORONTO.
I don't want to go to Istanbul to find out that this was all a sham.
Is this common in Istanbul? Is it better to sign contracts in person? Why are they lagging on responding to my emails? Why can't I find any more information about this university?
