Cookery classes

I want to learn how to cook. I am rubbish. I have quite a few cook books and I love food but I just don't know what I'm doing. Especially with regards to Turkish food.

I saw a cookery course someone wrote about on here that sounded wonderful but the price was way out of my league. Does anyone know of any reasonable options that aren't necessarily only aimed at wealthy tourists? Alternatively, I thought about trying to find a Turkish person who could teach me in exchange for English lessons but not quite sure where to start.

Any ideas?
