I believe Kadikoy actually means 'town of the judge'.....also was known in the past as the 'City of the Blind'.

By the way I lived on the A side for 2 years - loved it! One day will probably move back there - much more relaxed ...

You are just about right there, but to be exact Kadi was not just a judge, but more like an Islamic prince of sorts and Koy means village. I live in Uskudar and I have to say the Asain side is far more cheaper than the E. in many different ways. Of course I still can't find bacon over here but again that must have something to do with that Kadikoy place....
