New law for importation of house hold goods

As of November 12th 2009 the importation rules for house hold goods will change.
There will no longer be a temporary import rule (gecici kabul) and have to leave a security deposit etc. Also work permit is no longer needed.
The only tax you will now pay is the TRT bandrola tax for TVs, radios and other equipment capable of receiving tv and radio waves.

Documents needed for import are now as follows:
Residence permit
Passport
lease or tapu (rental lease must be for at least 24 months).

This is a vast improvement from the old system but the system has not changed for importing motor vehicles.
